You've been applying. And what comes back is either nothing or an automated rejection.

You know you're qualified.

You've applied to things you're overqualified for, and somehow that produces the same result.

I talk to people about this every day.

And the phrase I hear from almost everyone?

I don’t know what I am doing wrong.

The second most common phrase?

I should be able to figure this out on my own.

And I get that. I have ‘shoulded’ all over myself many times.

There are two questions that I ask almost everyone.

Have you been led to believe that if you are qualified, you will just get the job?

Have you started to worry (at some level) that you are not qualified for the job you want?

Because what if it isn’t you? What if the challenge is simply the way you need to look for a job?

I had to ask myself this very question twice in my career.

The first time I was looking for a corporate job, I had only worked as a teacher. LinkedIn almost killed my whole career change.

For every job description I looked at, it told me I would be in the bottom percentage of candidates. It basically told me I was unqualified for any job that I wanted.

I ended up ditching it altogether and looking for a job in a completely different way. It had nothing to do with my resume.

I am happy to report that LinkedIn was very wrong. I landed a job at Microsoft with no extra training. That job started my whole tech career.

So the second time, I had the exact resume I needed to keep moving forward in my tech career.

And I had been working as a hiring manager. I hired 8 people. I knew the process well.

I started to trust the process.

I thought it would be so easy this time. Finally.

Not exactly.

I couldn't get a single interview.

I had been on the inside of this process. I knew what a hiring manager was looking for.

And I still couldn't get through it.

That was the real mind f*#k.

So I started to ask myself: what if my qualifications aren't the only thing I need to land my ideal role?

It wasn't until I went back to what I'd learned during my career change that I started getting interviews. I ended up with two offers.

I talk about my experience as a job seeker more than my experience as a hiring manager. Because knowing how it FEELS matters more.

Any strategy that doesn’t take your emotional energy into account is bound to fail.

But don’t get me wrong. That hiring experience also shapes what I teach.

The people I hired were not always the ones who most closely matched the job description. Not even close.

And when I created this class, I used my last 7 years as a job search strategist, working with over 570 job seekers, 187 of them in depth.

Most of them started to fear that they weren’t qualified enough. They were wrong.

Spend 60 minutes with me in this live class, “Why qualified people don't get hired.”

✅ We'll go over the 3 pieces of advice that used to work, are still repeated everywhere, and are now out of date, quietly costing you interviews. And of course, what to do instead.

✅I'll walk you through real examples of highly qualified people who couldn't see what was in their way.

Here's what attendees of my classes have to say:

HEY, I'M LYNN.

I believe the dream job is the job that allows you to live the life you want, with people you actually like.

I hope you see me as you saw your favorite kindergarten teacher. I am always rooting for you. I will also be direct.

Everyone is welcome in my classes, except those who make others feel unwelcome.

I built my tech career and this business in Seattle. In 2021, I moved back to Colombia. I live in the mountains outside of Medellin with my partner and two cats, Tavo and Charlie.
